Laura Ferguson, 1st - 3rd Grade
I am a mother of two, grandmother of one. I am a teacher, photographer, and writer. I have been teaching for eleven years and have taught all grades 1-6, as well as a 2-year stint teaching math to inner city teens in a day treatment program.
My job previous to NSA was at Harambee Community Cultures Elementary in Maplewood, teaching a class of thirty 4th and 5th graders. I have also worked with Mad Science of Minnesota for four years teaching hands-on science to preschool – 6th graders. I have training and experience with differentiated instruction as well as multi-age classrooms. I also have taken classes on autism and worked with an autistic boy in his home for 18 months getting him ready to start kindergarten and helping him with the transition.
In my spare time I like to read, write, fish, camp, and hike. I like to folkssport – look that one up – and go on photography adventures with my dad. I also love to stay at home with my girls and grandson and be artsy-craftsy, play games, or boogie on the dance mat.
